What's next for Obama's network?

E.J. Dionne Jr. | What Next for Obama's Network?

E.J. Dionne Jr., The Washington Post: "While the nation's capital obsesses over Barack Obama's next Cabinet pick, the president-elect's lieutenants are engaged with what may be a more important long-term issue: What will become of Obama's vast grass-roots network?"

The price of victory

An excerpt:
"Democrats have a mandate from the American people - they do not have a carte blanche. This mandate isn't an affirmation, it's a command - a command to govern well, to deliver what the Republicans have failed to deliver. America is not a center-right country, and the nation has emphatically declared this. However, we're still engaged in the fight to make it a solidly, unmistakably center-left country. The 2008 election doesn't end that fight, as the passing of Prop 8 suggests. We must continue to pull the country to the left by demonstrating the success of Democratic principles and Democratic governance - and we'll be on a short leash electorally."
